Pay Plan Progress
The first vote needed to pass the pay plan, SB392, was achieved today in a very brief Joint Budget - Personnel committee meeting with no dissenting votes. This is a great sign for the probability of a successful passage as it works its way through the legislative process.
If the bill follows the normal path of passage it should be added to the agenda for this Thursdays full Joint Budget committee. If it passes through JBC it will then go to the Senate then to the House before heading to the Governors desk for signing into law. Predicting that timeline is difficult due to legislators recessing next week for spring break.
We have also been advised that once/if this passes and goes into law then your agency will advise you of your new title, new grade, how career tracks works, etc.
Bereavement Leave
SB 241 by Senator Jamie Scott and Representatives Pilkington, Clowney, and Wooldridge received a surprising "do pass" out of State Agencies - Senate this morning. Next step is on to the Senate floor maybe Wednesday or Thursday.
Retirement and Health Insurance Bills
It has been quiet this year, not complaining, in the retirement and health insurance arena as compared to the past several years. This goes for both active and retired state employees. The Public Retirement committee will meet one more time this session after they reconvene from spring break.

Is there a provision in the new pay plan proposal which addresses or make salary adjustments for employees’ seniority ( years of experience) with the Stateof Arkansas? If not, newly hired employees or employees with less years of experience with the State of Arkansas will receive the same rate of pay as employees with many years of experience.
