2018 Outstanding State Employee Awarded

September 5, 2018 (Little Rock) - Arkansas State Employees Association (ASEA), hosted an Outstanding State Employee of the Year Awards Banquet during its 50th Annual last month. The convention was held at the Arlington Resort Hotel & Span in Hot Springs August 10th and 11th, and the banquet was held Friday, August 10th at 6:30 p.m.

All six nominees were awarded plaques and $1,000 each for outstanding work performance and community involvement, as nominated by their peers. The overall winner was Alison Witten of the Arkansas Department of Health. She was awarded a plaque, an additional $2,000 and gets to keep the traveling trophy for a year.  

“We are always delighted to put Arkansas State Employees in the spotlight each year, and give them the appreciation they deserve,” said John Bridges, Executive Director of ASEA.

There were also two workshops that convention attendees enjoyed, vendors such as Arkansas Parks and Tourism and free food both days. The presenting sponsor for the convention was Delta Dental.

Arkansas State Employees Association Appoints New Executive Director

August 27, 2018 (Little Rock) - ASEA’s board of directors appointed John Bridges, formerly the Interim Executive Director, to the new Executive Director. The announcement was made at the 50th Annual Convention during the Outstanding State Employee of the Year Awards Banquet. Mr. Bridges will continue to advocate on behalf of all Arkansas state employees, by meeting with Governor Hutchinson, legislators and other key personnel.

“I look forward to continuing to serve this great state and its most precious resources, state employees,” John said.

About John Bridges

John has over 10 years of experience working in the non-profit and government sector. He’s chair of the Arkansas Workforce Retention Taskforce, serves on the audit committee for Arkansas Employees Federal Credit Union, is COO of Arkansas State Employees Benefit Advisors (ARSEBA), President of State Employees Benefit Corporation (SEBCO), and is on the board for Care for Animals. (ARSEBA and SEBCO are subsidiaries of ASEA). He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Business Administration.

Arkansas State Employees Association Hosts 2017 Outstanding State Employee of the Year Awards Banquet

August 4, 2017 (Little Rock) - Arkansas State Employees Association (ASEA), is hosting an Outstanding State Employee of the Year Banquet during its 49th Annual Convention at Embassy Suites Little Rock August 11th – 12th, 2017. The event will recognize outstanding state employees, chapters, staff members, and the Governor will attend the convention and say a few words on the morning of August 11th.

During the banquet, one winner will receive $3,000 and three finalists will receive $1,000 each for outstanding work performance and community involvement, as nominated by their peers. Andrea Lea, Auditor of State will speak at the banquet as well.

“We are always delighted to put Arkansas State Employees in the spotlight each year, and give them the appreciation they deserve,” said Danny James, Executive Director of ASEA.

There’s also a workshop for state employees to attend at the convention: “Living Your Best Life” by Matt Knight, MS, Licensed Professional Counselor, Director of Education at Mid-South Health Systems, and motivational speaker. 

The presenting sponsor for the convention is Delta Dental, and proceeds from an auction that will take place will go to the John F. Motes Scholarship Fund, of which ASEA has awarded 14 scholarship winners $1,000 each this year, the most awarded to date.

ASEA Appoints New Communications Director

December 23, 2015 (Little Rock, AR) - Arkansas State Employees Association (ASEA), has appointed Shauna Carpenter to serve as their new Communications Director. Ms. Carpenter will be responsible for managing the company’s social media pages, the websites, the printed and digital newsletters, press releases, email blasts – and will interview and communicate with legislators the needs of Arkansas state employees, while conveying the benefits of membership to said employees.

Danny James, ASEA Executive Director said: “We are very pleased to have Shauna join our ASEA/SEBCO family! I know she will be a great asset to our organization. We all look forward to working with her!”

“I’m so excited to join the team here, and I can’t wait to see what great things we can do together to ensure Arkansas state employees are well taken care of and well informed,” said Shauna Carpenter.
